The Home Secretary intends to reduce post-study student visas for the UK

Suella intends to change the Graduate Visa pathway so that international students must either obtain a work visa after landing a skilled employment or depart the UK within six months.

Supporters of Suella's proposal contend that students who enrol in short courses at "less respected universities" have abused the Graduate Visa route. Government sources reportedly told the local media that it was exploited as a backdoor immigration route.

As a government spokesperson explained, the points-based system will be flexible according to the UK's needs, and will be able to attract top-class talent from around the world to help keep our universities competitive on the world stage while contributing to the UK's excellent academic reputation.
