A new proposal to bar refugees arriving in the UK by small boats from claiming asylum from today

On Tuesday, the Home Secretary Suella Braverman plans to introduce legislation that she herself has acknowledged as "pushing the limits of international law".

The legislation is expected to contain measures aimed at preventing illegal immigrants from seeking asylum or invoking human rights laws to avoid removal.

It is expected that upon revealing the proposals in the Commons, Ms. Braverman will request the immediate implementation of these measures to deter people smugglers from exploiting the situation and bringing migrants across the Channel.

Under the new measures, the migrants who arrive through small boats will be deported to a third country and will not be permitted to return in the future.
